My First Deer

2nd Deer, Lagrange, Tx.
Hello, My name is Taylor and I am 12 years old. This is my first blog. I posted pictures of my first three deer. If you have a picture of your first deer or a big fish that you have caught than reply to this post and I will put it on my website.
I would like to hear all of your stories about your first catch or kill. Thanks for reading my post. Check back for future updates.
I stayed at my friend Cameron’s lake house for a week on Toledo bend lake. Which also has a low water level ten to twelve feet below normal level now. My friends lake house is in a small cove called Cardinal Cove.
And the deepest spot we found was a creak channel that was 16 to 17 ft. so we put a trot line with 16 hooks going through the middle of the creak channel hoping to catch a mess of catfish with perch.
We left it there for a few days checking it twice a day and caught about one or two catfish a day. So we set a smaller line in shallower waters and the first night we caught 3 on hot dog weenies. We were there for a week and had a fish fry the day before we left.
And the last day my friends mom pulled the trot line up before we left and there was a 15 pound blue cat on so I skinned it and then filet it ready for the next fish fry.
Hi my name is Taylor I’m 13 years old and I started this website about two years ago to get kids like you interested and involved in the outdoors.I may not be an expert but once I started fishing I was hooked, and if you tried it I know you would to. And fishing isn’t the only thing, as some of you know deer season just ended. It didn’t take me long to get a good six point the first week of youth season, that doesn’t even compare to the 7 point and the 8 point’s I shot two years in a row ! I guess What I’m trying to say is it doesn’t take much. Just get out there with your dad or grandpa, mayby even your mom be safe and get after it!
ps. if you have any pics. of a deer you recently shot or a big fish get intouch with me through the contact form and I will put them on my website thanks!

Over the past weekend me and my buddy Ryan went fishing on Lake Toledo Bend, in Texas. We got a new boat and we were trolling around the cove at Hillside Inn, where we had stayed in one of there wonderful cabins there. We saw the bass hitting on shiners so I used a Rattlin Rapala because of its shad like appearance, and i had got it in the mail from North American Fisheng Club to try out. After trolling around for 30 min. we already caught 3 fish and we were coming up on the right side of the cove and Ryan got a bite. He slowed down a little bit and he got a bite again he jerked so hard I thought the
lips came off the bass! He got it in the boat and we got it weighed. It was 2.15 pounds,we put him in the live well and we trolled over to the left point of the cove it took a few cast but then I felt it. I jerk and he puts up a good fight he goes straight under the boat and I finally got him in!! he was 17 1/2 inches but I didn’t get a chance to weigh him. He’s big, that’s for sure! We went back to show my parents. Camera’s came out, My parents started snapping pictures….And, that’s how we ended are weekend at the lake!

I wake up to the smell of bacon early morning . After a good breakfast my cousin blade, my paw paw Jimmy, and me head out to the boat, we go straight across the lake from mill creek. I start off with a blue and white rattle trap. We see a school of what we thought were large-mouth bass we get closer, and right away I catch one .I get it in and its not a large-mouth at all its a yellow bass.
So, we switched to a smaller shad colored swimbait and I catch two more and so does blade, and paw paw Jimmy. The school went away but, we kept on fishing after about an hour, we go back to camp. we all ate a sandwich and we rested a little bit. me and my cousin decided to go perch fishing off the bank. we needed some for the drop-line anyway. after we catch a few its time to go to our honey hole in the boat. We get there and I forgot too cut the perch up, so me and my cousin Blade get of on the bank to cut the perch. and my paw paw decides to throw his swim bait a few cast and he catches a “BIG” sun perch! So we cut him up to. A few more cast later he catches a pretty good size bass. We keep him, a couple hrs. later we haven’t caught any thing else, so we check the drop-lines. Nothing on them, and we get ready for a long trip home.that’s a good day at the lake.
