first deer 3 240x300 My First Gun And Deer

My First Deer

My first gun was a Russell 22  243 and 20 gauge all in one . It was a single shot but it worked for me ,and that was for my first hunting season. Usually its me my cousin blade and my grandpa Jimmy, but it was about the third weekend we were down there and my cousin blade made the all-stars team in baseball, well anyway he had a game that day so he wasn’t there so that weekend my dad was there.

I decided to go hunt in the stand with my grandpa so we went hunting early that morning, and on are way there we saw a fresh buck scrape and some cat prints. We got to the stand and we heard something in the woods. We didn’t see anything moving, so I tried to get a little sleep in while I was in the stand, like I always do.

Then only about twenty five minutes later  a big buck came out before I could get any sleep or even my eyes closed  good. I had no idea what was  happening , my grandpa says Taylor, hay Taylor…. wake up there’s a buck, wake up .

Man, I heard those words, I shot up like a rocket  put my sites on him I could not tell how many points it had I was just ready to shoot my first deer , I took a shot……..”did i hit him” “i think so”. We wait 30 minutes to make sure it was dead . I waited nervously, 30 minutes later,we go to get my dad .”

Camping and hunting are very fun until something bad happens, like what I say before I go fishing, hope for the best and prepare for the worst.Last year I went  hunting there was a big storm and it got rained out and I didn’t get to shoot that big buck, a week later I remembered to bring all this stuff and I shot my first buck, well it didn’t rain but if it did i would  have been ready for it.

If you went hunting and the storm busted a hole in your tent only if you would have had that extra tarp in then your flashlight ran out of batteries that’s why i made a list of stuff you need. The 5 things you don’t want to forget when you go camping and hunting.

1.Extra tarp

2. Machete

3.Extra batteries for your  flashlight

Recognized as the most comprehensive youth hunting program anywhere in North America, the Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) is nras graduate studies program in outdoor skills and safety training for young hunters. Open only to those who have completed hunter-safety training at the state or provincial level, the program is conducted under simulated hunting conditions to provide the best practical environment for reinforcing and testing a young hunter’s skills. From rifle, bow and muzzleloader shooting at life-sized targets, to wildlife identification, to map-and-compass orienteering and more, YHEC participants get hands-on training in eight skills areas, giving them expertise in all methods of take and all types of game. State- and provincial-level YHEC programs, hosted by volunteer instructors, draw an estimated 50000 youths each year. Top ranked individuals advance to the annual NRA International Youth Hunter Education Challenge, the pinnacle of the program. Since its inception in 1985, YHEC has reached more than a million young sportsmen and women.
