I stayed at my friend Cameron’s lake house for a week on Toledo bend lake. Which also has a low water level ten to twelve feet below normal level now. My friends lake house is in a small cove called Cardinal Cove.
And the deepest spot we found was a creak channel that was 16 to 17 ft. so we put a trot line with 16 hooks going through the middle of the creak channel hoping to catch a mess of catfish with perch.
We left it there for a few days checking it twice a day and caught about one or two catfish a day. So we set a smaller line in shallower waters and the first night we caught 3 on hot dog weenies. We were there for a week and had a fish fry the day before we left.
And the last day my friends mom pulled the trot line up before we left and there was a 15 pound blue cat on so I skinned it and then filet it ready for the next fish fry.

Hey its me again last weekend me my grandpa and my to younger cousins Blade and Raley, went fishing at my uncles pond. You see a lot of people think you have to go out to Sam Rayburn or Toledo Bend to catch a good quality fish , but the good fish could be in the smallest most uncommon places and if your in a pond usually you should use a small bait, but this pond is stocked with catfish and brim.
Personally I like to catfish the big ones so I fished for catfish and used magic night crawler bait and it worked like a charm. after they stopped biting i started using a bite purple rat-tell trap didn’t catch tiny bass.
I look to the left and my cousin blade had a good bass on the line, and my cousin Raley is reeling in the brim one after another, and at the end of the day we went to get a bite at sonic. That’s what I did last weekend
thanks and come back next week for another weekly fishing tip
This week I’m going to talk about jigs. A good place for jigs is by lily-pads.
if your fishing at a place with a lot of lily-pads you might wont to tie on a jig.
A jig I really like is a brown and black football jig, and that’s not just because I like football the oval shaped head and the weed guard makes it perfect for fishing by lily-pads .
oh yeah and the bass love em!!!
Thanks and come back next week for another weekly fishing tip
Fishing is a fun and tranquil sport that lets you spend quiet time with your friends, family and with Mother Nature.
Fresh water fishing is a sport involving the catching of fish in lakes, rivers and streams. It involves a lot of patience, challenge and a lot of acquired skill over time. Anyone can participate in this fun activity, including the kids.
To start, you have to check your State’s fishing requirements and make sure if a license is needed for you to fish. If it is required, you must acquire one by checking with a sporting goods store. They will help you how to get it, and some will even provide it for you.
During the time that you are in your favorite sporting goods store, you can look around and buy the right fishing equipment that you will be need for your trip. Considering that you are a beginner, make sure that you budget well the cost and your spending on the equipment, not deciding on expensive equipments; buy only the basic things you will need.
When in doubt as to what is needed, ask the help of the store keeper, but do keep in mind that you need to stick to a budget. Take your time and don’t hesitate to ask how to use each piece of equipment that is offered to you. Artificial lures for bait can be used or you can simply look for worms from your back yard.
An inexpensive fishing rod and reel will be enough along with a fishing line, hooks, weights, a bobber (this keeps your line afloat), fishing lures and net. A polarized sunglass is also essential, as it will help to see clearly through the water and lessen the glare.
